We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Estates Operative to part time evenings and weekends. The information below provides more detail about the role.

Duties:

  1. Building and Site Operation:
  • Operate mechanical and electrical systems
  • Operate plant rooms
  1. Provide an emergency response:
  • Support and assist Emergency Services
  • Support evacuations and lockdowns
  • Provide first aid and be a Fire Marshall as part of the emergency response team
  • Remove trapped persons from lifts
  1. Provide Grounds Maintenance:
  • Tidiness, sweeping/cleaning and bin/ashtray emptying in all external areas. Seasonal cleaning/treating (leaves, snow, ice etc.). Grass cutting, strimming, weeding etc.
  • Car Park monitoring, administration and management tasks
  • Assisting external grounds maintenance contractors
  1. Lifting and Carrying:
  • Manual handling of College property such as furniture
  • Forwarding/collecting items and packages to/from departments
  • Operate the Goods In office/Post Room, taking receipt of deliveries and advising recipients. Including items delivered to main reception and any security office
  1. Maintenance:
  • Preventative maintenance and site statutory checks as per schedules
  • DIY repairs as directed (for example: hanging light tubes; unblocking drains; hanging frames; furniture repairs etc.)
  • Respond to all Helpdesk Estates Requests, layouts/lettings, any unanticipated arisings as directed and with a sense of urgency
  • Maintenance of departmental tools and equipment including stockholdings
  1. Security:
  • Estate opening and closing, including alarm setting/unsetting as necessary
  • Support to staff/students working outside of normal teaching hours
  • Maintain College discipline requirements including property care and behaviour of personnel on site.
  • Maintain security of College property entrusted in departmental care
  • Operate CCTV and a hand-held radio

Skills/Experience:

  • General DIY- appropriate skills
  • IT Skills – appropriate skills – MS Office and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills. Good at dealing with people of all ages

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Current Driving Licence - Cat B and Cat D
